Former Nike design director Eric Duvauchelle has teamed up with his brother Antoine to create Cylo, "ultimate urban bicycle designed for performance, functionality and style."
Duvauchelle already has a bicycle brand. He has been operating Portland, Oregon, titanium brand Cycles Papillon since 2009. Duvauchelle started at Nike, also of Portland, in 2004.
“Born out of 18 months of design, engineering and passion, Cylo is our vision of the perfect urban bicycle," said Duvauchelle.
Cylo – which stands for the first bit of cycle and the last bit of velo, a nod to Duvauchelle’s French heritage – is currently in concept form only, with the firm’s website collecting emails. When launched, the Cylo bike will feature a carbon synchronous belt-drive, and integrated frame lights. The $2199 bike will be made in Portland and will contain an accelerometer so the rear light will brighten as the cyclist slows down.
“We wanted to make a bike that would make heads turn, a no-compromise machine for the discerning modern rider,” said Duvauchelle.
