Carlisle shop targeted

Flood-hit bike shop hit by attempted break in

Long-suffering Carlisle bike shop Scotby Cycles has suffered an attempted break-in, reports the News & Star.

The shop was closed having been flooded since the end of last year. Fortunately, the would-be thieves fled empty handed after an alarm went off when they made a hole in the roof and ceiling of the shop.

Sadly Scotby wasn’t the only bike shop to be targeted by opportunist raiders following the floods in December, with Cycle Factory of Todmorten robbed of seven high-end bikes shortly before the New Year. There’s more on bike shops contending with the winter floods here.
