Retailer also offering bike checkups until the end of the day too

Evans offering free puncture repairs during tube strike

Even if you aren’t based anywhere near London you’ve probably heard about the London Underground strikes currently running.

Evens Cycles has craftily capitalised on the tube strikes by offering free bike checks since Monday until the end of today (Thursday 6th August). The retailer is also offering free puncture repairs until the end of the working week (Friday 7th).

Not only that, but Evans Cycles has been running free maintenance classes during this week and making use of Twitter to push the promotion #BikeTheStrike.

“We at Evans Cycles strongly believe that cycling is the best means of commuting to work full stop," said Mark Brown, Director of Business Services and Ride to Work. "Not only is it cheaper and greener than driving or taking public transport, but it keeps you fit and healthy. Most importantly though, it’s enjoyable. During the week of the next proposed strike we will be running a number of initiatives in our London stores to help people navigate the city during what will be a chaotic time. However, we hope that others will discover our passion and enjoy the benefits of cycling to work on a more regular basis.”

It’s not just Evans banging the cycle drum during the tube strikes, with doubtless plenty of IBDs getting in on the act and the likes of the LCC and London’s Cycle Hire scheme raising awareness of the cycle alternatives.
