Instead, the Dutch retail services organisation is to concentrate its efforts on Germany and Belgium. Stephen Thomas, Profile's UK sales director, will not be renewing his monthly management contract with Euretco. He said: "They'll be back, and when they do come back they'll be stronger."

Euretco postpones plans for UK roll-out of Profile “the Cycle Specialist”

Eurecto Tweewielers MD Ron Te Riele said:

"We are realistic enough to see that we cannot do everything at once so we have put our British ambitions on hold. We are going to focus our organisation’s attention entirely on the current expansion in Belgium and a successful launch in Germany. These are the markets in which we see the best potential for growth at the present time.

"And naturally we want to continue to provide our Dutch operators with the quality of service to which they are accustomed."

There had been plans to appoint a £60k pa managing director for the UK operation but latterly Eurecto Tweewielers wanted to see a minimum number of IBD and supplier sign-ups before appointing an MD.

Stephen Thomas had six IBDs as signed-up members, with a further 12 waiting to sign-up.

He told BikeBiz that he’s now contacting all those IBDs to tell them of the Eurecto Tweewielers decision to put the UK operation on hold.

"I understand the reasons for the delay, they’re flat out with Belgium and Germany. Once Euretco has concentrated on those markets, it will be back in the UK."
