ETRA, the European Twowheel Retailers’ Association has been dissolved. At an extraordinary Assembly General, the effective members of the organisation decided to dissolve and liquidate ETRA due to "insufficient funding." The decision was unanimous.
ETRA was established in 1995 "to defend and promote the interests of European two-wheel dealers."
In recent years ETRA became a lobbying organisation for electric bikes, to the detriment of its work for all bicycles. In 2011, there was a public row between ETRA and UK cycle organisations CTC and the Bicycle Association over ETRA’s stance on the EU’s rules on electric bikes.
