Billed as the show with "80 brand, 8 distributors and 1 venue" Core Bike will be staged 27th and 28th February, 2005. The venue will be familiar to some IBDs: it's the West Brom Moathouse, used for the Fisher house-show earlier this year, spitting distance from the M5.

Eight top-end niche suppliers create own trade show

In fact, this particular hotel is close to the junctions of the M6 and M42 too, and a short tram ride from Birmingham city centre.

OK, so that’s the venue, who are the suppliers? Silverfish, Ison, Windwave, Extra, Raw, Hope, Upgrade and MMA.

This select roster of suppliers represents brands such as Marzocchi, Halo Rims, Manitou, Hope, DMR, Race Face, Topeak and 661.

"Core Bike will facilitate the personal time and attention from suppliers that you might receive at a single supplier show, combined with an unprecedented selection of Core Bike products," said a joint statement issued by the eight.

"No existing single UK trade supplier can come anywhere close to matching the impact that the Core Bike exhibitors have on the UK market place. By co-operating together the Core Bike exhibitors are committing to boost the knowledge stream to the Specialist Bicycle Dealer, enabling them to drive forwards harder and faster in today’s competitive market place."

The eight companies are unlikely to be joined by more, because of space restrictions at the venue, but Darren Mabbott from Silverfish said later editions of the show could be expanded to accomodate more top-end UK suppliers.
