Edinburgh Cycle Company sees Giant and Diamondback bikes stolen in the early hours of this morning

Edinburgh bike shop suffers £6,000 break in

This morning at around 2.19am (Tuesday February 12th) Edinburgh Cycle Company was broken into.

The shop, located on Granton Road, saw two of its most expensive bikes stolen in the raid – a Giant Trace X0 29er and a Diamondback Sortie 3 –as well as the contents of the till.

According to the retailer, the Giant Trance XO 29er is one of only two in a medium size in Scotland (the other being sold to someone in Ballater). The frame number on this bike is GW201093.

The other bike is also relatively rare – a 2012 Diamondback Sortie 3 in a 19-inch frame. Unfortunately the retailer doesn’t have a serial number for that yet.

Edinburgh Cycle Company said: "If you spot either of these in Edinburgh or at trail centres please let us know and we’ll reward you accordingly. We’d be really greatful if you’d be as kind as to share this post anywhere you feel might be appropriate."

According to STV News, witnesses saw two men cycling away on bikes near the time of the break in.
