Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative has confirmed to BikeBiz that the brand’s Sheffield branch is closing.
Managing director of Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative Jeremy Miles cited a lack of sales due to a challenging location, partnered with the current trading enviroment in his statement on the store’s imminent closure.
The full statement is as follows:
"It is with great regret that Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative are announcing the immediate closure of our store in Sheffield. The city has proved a challenging location for us to grow sales in the last few years, particularly with the trading environment as it currently is.When an opportunity arose to exit the lease we thought it sensible to do so.
We have very much enjoyed serving the cyclists of Sheffield for the past six years and we look forward to continuing to offer an exciting and diverse range of cycling equipment and outstanding co-operative service from our other city locations and online."
