Peter Collard and the team at eBike Motor Centre are well known across the industry, as partners with global motor manufacturers, supporting the riding public, keeping e-bikes going long after manufacturer warranties end.
At eBike Motor Centre Ltd, sustainability is not a side note; it is central to everything the business does. From workshop practices to the products it offers, the team are committed to reducing environmental impact and supporting a circular economy wherever possible.
Critically, Peter and the team don’t just sell e-Bike motor parts; they also give them a second life. The business repairs, refurbishes, and resells used motors and components, helping to extend the lifespan of valuable materials, reduce waste, keeping more bikes on the road and out of landfill sites.
Over the last 6 years, the business has repaired around 15,000 motors, meaning 15,000 e-bikes were put back on the road without the need for a new motor! Just these 15,000 motors equate to 53 Tons or over 1.5 Olympic swimming pools’ worth of material saved from landfill.
To put this into context, the image at the top and bottom of this feature is of the skip at the back of the eBike Motor Centre – showing the total metal waste after 6 years. Peter points out here that, naturally enough, the business will have this recycled responsibly.
Asked about the bigger picture, Peter points out that “We are honest about the realities, too – e-bikes are not 100% sustainable. Lithium and cobalt mining for batteries has a cost. But compared to cars, they’re a massive leap forward. They represent a cleaner, more efficient way to travel, and we’re here to help make that option more accessible, more affordable, and environmentally smarter.”
