Cycle folds around lamppost to prevent theft

Designer unveils lock-free folding bike

De Montfort University graduate Kevin Scott has designed a security conscious folding bike that wraps around a lamppost instead of using a traditional lock or chains, as reported in the Daily Mail.

The bike uses a ratchet system, built as part of the frame, that allows the cycle to wrap around a lamppost or pole.

According to the report the frame can be ratcheted tightly when the cycle is being ridden, and can be easily loosened in order to fold.

The innovative design also means using a cycle parking space would be a thing of the past.

There are plenty of pics of the unique cycle – currently being showcased at the Young Designers 2 show in north London – on the site here.
