Presenter and actress teams up with Cycle to Work Day 2015

Denise Van Outen to urge more women to cycle to work

Cycle to Work Day is to return on 3rd September, designed to engage new and returning cycle customers.

The national event is now in its third year and is organised by C2W provider Cyclescheme. The firm wants to encourage one million people to cycle to work by 2021.

To mark the national day and urge more female participants in this year’s event, Cyclescheme has enlisted television presenter Denise Van Outen. A cycle enthusiast, Van Outen has completed two major charity rides to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

The household name will be taking part in the day’s events as well as encouraging others to pledge their ride at www.cycletoworkday.org. Bike traders are urged to get involved and pledge their support.

“Cycling to work is great, because it’s a win win saving money on a bike, and getting your exercise done for the day on the way to and from work,” said Denise Van Outen. “Loads of local bike shops are offering free bike health checks from 24 August to 3 September.”

The campaign is supported by British Cycling, Sustrans, the Bicycle Association, Act TravelWise, CTC and the London Cycling Campaign.
