An injured cyclist's plea for help after a crash went viral on the social media site, and Twitter now gives it a power plug.

Cyclist’s Tweet for help third most ‘powerful’ of 2010

A tweet by Triathlete Leigh Fazzina, who posted on the networking site following a crash at her local trails, has made Twitter’s top ten most ‘powerful’ tweets of 2010.

The message read "I’ve had a serious injury and NEED Help! Can somone please call Winding Trails in Farmington, CT tell them I’m stuck bike crash in woods."

When her calls to friends and relatives couldn’t be patched through, Ms Fazzina – taking part in an off-road triathlon but who had diverted from the trail – resorted to Twitter in the hope somebody could direct emergency servcies to her location deep within some woods. The full story of her tweet, subsequent rescue, and social media famedom, can be found on her website.
