Cycling Ireland has announced a new partnership with Cyql, the innovative community and club management app designed specifically for cyclists and clubs.
The collaboration will see the introduction of a bespoke ‘Cycling Ireland’ app, to its 250+ affiliated clubs and 26,000 members, making it easier to organise, connect, and grow cycling communities across the country.
Founded in the Netherlands, Cyql is seen as “one of the fastest-growing cycling apps, used by over 50,000 cyclists worldwide across 4,000 clubs”. Its mission is to help cycling clubs get their members riding together more often and optimise communication between the club and its riders.
The Cycling Ireland Club app is available for download and use at no cost for Cycling Ireland clubs and members, via Google Play and the iTunes store. For club admins, also available through the web.

Paul Norton, Participation Manager, Cycling Ireland, explains, “It has become increasingly challenging for Irish cycling clubs to manage and communicate with members, especially clubs that are experiencing a high growth in membership. The Cycling Ireland app will replace WhatsApp and Facebook groups to streamline communication for clubs and make it easier to organise rides and share routes, among many other amazing features. We are really excited to deliver this added value to our members.”
Irish clubs automatically have access to the features of the Cyql ‘starter’ package for free, “offering savings of up to 108 Euros per year”. Cycling Ireland offers a free upgrade to the comprehensive Starter Plan (9€ p.M.) for its member clubs; optionally, clubs can upgrade if more functionality is required.
Key Benefits for Irish Clubs and Cyclists
● Easy Ride Organisation: Plan group spins, set routes, assign ride leaders, and manage group size for safety.
● Membership Management: Track members, assign roles, and customise club identity with logos and colours.
● Central Communication: In-app news, a ride and event calendar, and push notifications will replace scattered WhatsApp/Facebook groups.
● Route Sharing: Store, tag, and share GPX routes – so all riders joining club rides can download and save routes to their GPS devices or phones.
● Safety First: Set ride expectations (speed, distance, duration) and appoint leaders for safer, structured rides.
● Discover & Connect: Find nearby rides, explore other Cycling Ireland clubs, and connect with members.
● Club Marketplace: Buy and sell cycling gear securely within the Irish cycling community.
● Branded Experience: Clubs can personalise the app with their own logo and colours.
● Accessible Everywhere: Available as apps for both Android and iPhone users, with free core features and optional Pro/Elite upgrade for clubs, should they wish for added functionality.
“Cycling in Ireland is growing rapidly, and we want to give our clubs and members the very best tools to connect, ride, and thrive together,” said James Quilligan, CEO Cycling Ireland. “Partnering with Cyql allows us to strengthen the club experience – whether you’re a competitive rider, a leisure cyclist, or a beginner looking to join your first spin, this app makes light work of the typical admin that clubs are facing”
Wouter Slotegraaf, Founder of Cyql, added, “We are thrilled to partner with Cycling Ireland. Ireland has one of the most passionate and diverse cycling communities in Europe, and we’re excited to help Irish clubs take the hassle out of organisation so they can focus on what matters most: getting more people on bikes and enjoying cycling.”

The new Cycling Ireland app is immediately available for all Irish cycling clubs registered with Cycling Ireland.
Training and onboarding support will be provided to ensure clubs and riders can make the most of the app from day one. Readers can learn more about the launch of the new app on the Cycling Ireland website.
