Site to provide hints and tips to encourage bicycle commuting

Cyclescheme and Specialized target new cycle commuters

Cycle to work provider Cyclescheme is working with Specialized, CTC, Sustrans and Ordnance Survey to create an online portal for newcomers to commuting by bike.

The site – www.cyclingcommuter.co.uk – aims to provide essential information and tips to help get commuters on two wheels.

The celebrate the launch, the site is giving away one Specialized commuter bike every month, for three months, worth up to £349.99.

“The new Cycling Commuter website is an excellent portal for those interested in riding to work,” explained Cyclescheme’s Daniel Gillborn.

“It aims to motivate novice cyclists by empowering them with information that breaks down the barriers which put many off cycling. Cyclescheme is pleased to be one of the key contributors to the site and we hope many people will benefit from this brilliant additional resource.”

The site features:
– Reasons why a cycle commute can benefit health, wellbeing and wallet;
-A basic guide to the bike that’s right for you, the gear and accessories that are designed to support your commute;
-How to plan a route fit for cycling, not just for driving;
-Video guides to bike care from Specialized
-Answers to frequently asked questions

Specialized UK’s Anne Immelman added: “By working with some of the leading organisations in the category, we are looking to simplify things for those who may be daunted by the prospect of commuting by bike for the first time. “We’re delighted that CycleScheme agreed to work with us on this.”
