CycleFest Edinburgh launching this summer

There’s a new consumer cycling event coming to Edinburgh this year, spearheaded by Rowan Mackie, former organiser of the Scottish Bike Show.

Cyclefest Edinburgh 2015, taking place at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, will be a celebration of cycling incorporating an indoor exhibition, outside features, displays, bikefit studio, presentation theatre and more to be confirmed over the pre-promotional campaign.

The organisers anticipate a footfall of over 5,000 between 19th – 20th September, adding they are "confident of delivering a first class event which has been needed in Edinburgh due to the popularity of cycling over the past few years".

Mackie commented: “We had four great years organising SBS in Glasgow and I am delighted to be working on a brand new cycling event in Edinburgh which will target predominantly a family demographic and newbies to cycling.

“We want to celebrate Scottish Cycling and all the activities Edinburgh has to offer as well as showcase fantastic brands and services which our intended audience may not have the opportunity to see in one event, hence the name CycleFest Edinburgh 2015, a festival experience of cycling.”

Already on board for the latest Edinburgh event is ex-pro and Commonwealth Games medallist, James McCallum. He recently embarked on his new business venture, META (McCallum Event Training Athletes) which acts as a consultancy and events specialist within his expertise. McCallum will be managing and assisting on numerous elements of the inaugural CycleFest event to attract the stars of the Commonwealth Games and other cycling features to take place in September this year.

CycleFest Edinburgh’s venue, the Edinburgh Corn Exchange hosts over 350 events per year with a dedicated events team focusing on their own in-house consumer events. MD Paul De Marco said: “We have been looking to do a cycling event at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange for quite some time now, so the recent addition of Rowan to our team with the experience and contacts he brings, it’s great to finally showcase a festival style cycling event in Edinburgh as there hasn’t really been anything like this before.”
