Biciklo.com, a search engine for cycling tours, has launched this month. Created as a service for riders in search of a tour, the site is aimed at road, MTB and family riders.
The site taps into the growing touring market and was created to fill a niche for prospective tourers, according to David Houghton.
He told BikeBiz: “Hannah, the co-founder, and I have been on a number of cycling tours and have always found the process of finding the perfect tour to be time-consuming.
“Searching on Google just brings up endless pages of results to wade through,” he added.
“Every rider is looking for something different in terms of level of difficulty, destination, accommodations and so on. So we set out to create a site that brings all that information into one place. In addition, we want to expose cyclists to destinations they might not have considered.”
The site is complemented by an annual guide book, attracting a range of riders from hard-core masochists and pleasure seekers, Houghton told BikeBiz.
