Cycle Show introduces ‘inclusive hub’

The Cycle Show has annoucned a new ‘hub’, developed by Quest 88 and Wheels for Wellbeing, targetted at encouraging those who believe cycling to be out of their reach to give it a try with the help of new technology.

The ‘Hub’ will provide information for individuals, families, friends and carers, on how to access, try or buy the latest in inclusive cycles. With companion cycles, wheelchair tandems, handcycles and therapy tricycles all ready to be tested on the dedicated track.

Brands exhibiting include Draisin, ideal for children and adults with complex needs; BuddyBike tandems for children with Autism; Top End Handcycles designed for disabled and able bodied cyclists alike; and Power Pumper and Petra running bikes which are perfect for children who find it difficult to pedal a conventional bike or trike.

Robert Henshaw, co-managing director of Quest 88 commented: "We’re delighted to introduce the Inclusive Cycling Hub to the Cycle Show. Quest88, design, manufacture and supply cycles for children and adults who have a physical or learning disability or have impaired balance. Our ambition is to see people of all ages and abilities fully participating, alongside peers in the fun and freedom of cycling. Cycling is truly for everybody and the aim of the Inclusive Cycling Hub is to clearly demonstrate this to the wider public and especially to those whom, either because of age or disability, may have thought cycling was beyond their reach."

Andrew Brabazon, Cycle Show event director, said “Not only do we attract people from all over the country and from all genres of cycling, the show really does cater for every cyclist of every age and ability”.

The Cycle Show is taking place from 30th September to 2nd October at the NEC in Birmingham. Trade tickets, available free of charge, are available here.
