The directory lists hire outlets by county and states whether the standalone hire centre or IBD stocks trailer-bikes, child seats, tandems or recumbents, and whether repair and breakdown services, route advice and guided rides and discounts to CTC members are also available.
CTC and the Association of Cycle Traders have produced a voluntary Cycle Hire Code of Practice. This includes pledges on cycle safety, maintenance, the provision of accessories and cycling instruction.
The Cycle Hire Directory is free to CTC members and £2.50 to non-members.
The CTC Members’ Handbook 2001, published last month, has been made available to non-members for the first time, at a cost of £4.99.
