CTC is a museum piece

The exhibition celebrates CTC’s 125th anniversary and will feature many of the museum’s comprehensive collection of cycles. The display includes a range of historic touring cycles including Ordinaries similar to those ridden by the CTC’s founders, alongside historic maps and camping equipment.

As well as providing information on routes and accommodation, CTC has always campaigned for cyclists’ rights, and visitors to the museum will learn how the organisation played its role in the emancipation of women by arguing for ‘rational dress’ for female cyclists in the 1880s.

The exhibition will be opened by CTC director, Kevin Mayne, and the Mayor of Llandridod Wells.

The National Cycle Museum’s curator, David Higman, said:

"We are thrilled to be able to help celebrate CTC’s anniversary and we hope that the organisation is as strong in another 125 years.”

The exhibition runs until May 2004 at the Automobile Palace, Temple Street, Llandridod Wells.
