September event to feature Triathlon, Cycle Sportive and one leg of female-only Cycletta series, celebrating the Olympic year

Cornwall to host UK’s first Festival of Sport

The first Festival of Sport Cornwall is set to run next September 14th to 16th – a three-day festival held at Mount’s Bay in West Cornwall.

Encouraging competitors of all abilities to take part, the organisers – the firm behind Cycletta – have revealed a range of sporting activities as part of the festival. A sportive (40/100/140km) taking in Cornwall’s rural and coastal scenery, a 40km leg of the women-only Cycletta series and a number of triathlons – Half Ironman, Olympic and Sprint.

The event will live up to its festival name, with live entertainment, food, drink, comedians, bands and more, as well as seminars taken by world renowned sports trainers, physiologists and nutritionists.

Participate CEO Nick Rusling said of the new event: “Having previously delivered the world’s largest triathlon, UK’s largest sportive and many other mass participation events, the real joy of being involved in these sports is spending time with the participants who are invariably sociable, fun and have a love of the great outdoors.

“The aim of this unique sporting event is to bring together like minded fitness enthusiasts across the UK who want to take part in highly professional sporting events in a hugely relaxed and fun environment.”

There will be a charity element to the Festival of Sport too, supporting the Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation.
