Cooper Bikes to launch an electric bike

Cooper Bikes, the bicycle division of the Cooper Car Company, which made the original Mini Cooper, is to launch an electric bike. The Cooper E will have a 520 Reynolds steel frame and will feature an integrated battery and motor unit in the rear hub.

The bike’s 250-watt motor will have an in-built KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery) system, similar to that found in Formula One cars.

"The Cooper E bike is clean and elegant in its design but functions as a brilliant city E Bike," said a company statement. The bike is due to be released later this month. Coming later in 2018 will be the Cooper E Disc which will feature a Gates belt drive.
