Clearspace buildings, a specialist in modular construction, has developed what it says is the UK’s first moveable external shower and changing facility.
Taking up just two car parking spaces, the Shower Hub houses two shower and changing units and can be fully installed in just one day. The unit can even be installed in underground or multi-storey car parks.
The first unit was recently unveiled at Watford Hospital where it forms part of the Cycle Pit Stop, comprising bike stands, secure storage and a repair station. The Hospital’s Shower Hub also attracted grant funding from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
Scott Horner, managing director of Clearspace, said: “We’re very excited by the Shower Hub and the possibilities it presents. There are so many financial incentives and grant funding available to organisation’s that wish to encourage their employees to leave the car at home and cycle to work, that a Shower Hub could easily pay for itself."
The company is also currently developing a two-storey permanent 70 unit Shower Hub, which includes lockers, bike stands and storage and a canopied repair station area.
