Fire at Chicken & Sons Bisley Works destroys warehouse and offices

Chicken & Sons warehouse razed to the ground

The fire at RJ Chicken and Sons in Kensworth near Dunstable was started sometime before midnight last night. Fifty firefighters spent most of the night tackling the blaze.

Everything on site is now "cinders and dust," said Robert Chicken.

"Leather saddles and aluminium cranksets are now nothing more than blobs."

Cedric Chicken said a suspected arsonist has been apprehended by police.

Chicken & Sons now have no means of communicating to the outside world, with all phones, modems and computers being destoyed in the fire.

A company statement reads:

"We will be out of communication for a few days and request the trade to be as patient as possible. We will have further information on the resumption of lines of communication early next week. All such information provision will be via BikeBiz.com."
