Celebrities from the world of cycling, fashion and acting have all lent their support to Bike Week, kicking off Saturday June 13th and running until Sunday June 21st.
Consisting of hundreds of cycling-based events across the UK, Bike Week aims to attract people to the world of cycling. This year’s slogan is ‘Get more out of life, get cycling’.
Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton have given their backing to Bike Week, with Team Atherton and Animal Commencal attenting certain events during the period.
Outside the world of cycling, actors Damian Lewis and Andrew Lincoln have also pledged their support, while key figures from the fashion industry have also helped generate media attention for Bike Week.
Red or Dead co-founder Wayne Hemingway praised the advantages of cycling: "The best thing about cycling is everything- fresh air, exercise, fun, no environmental impact and importantly for thrifty types like me – bloomin’ cheap.”
Brit fashion guru Giles Deacon enthused: "The best thing about cycling is exercise, seeing things I wouldn’t see from a car…. "
Fashion legend Vivienne Westwood said: "Cycling is so convenient. Because I never ride very fast, I don’t need a change of clothes – if necessary I walk up the hills. Sometimes I carry high heel shoes with me in the basket if I’m going somewhere."
