CamelBak has released the K.U.D.U., a hydration pack with integrated back protection.

CamelBak has your, er, back with the K.U.D.U. pack

First seen at Bike PressCamp earlier in the summer, Camelbak’s K.U.D.U. is a hydration, protection and cargo backpack. K.U.D.U. stands for Kinetic Ultimate Dampening Unit.

The pack incorporates CamelBak Impact Protector that is said to absorb more than 94 percent of impact. The Impact Protector exceeds CE Level 2 certification of EN 1621-2, a safety standard required for motorcycle protective gear, and surpasses the required coverage area of protection.

The Impact Protector is able to withstand multiple impacts without losing its protective ability, a result of the insert’s proprietary, perforated, multi-layered foam.

“With the increase in mountain bike and enduro participation and race guidelines that require riders to carry hydration as well as protective gear, we realizdd the need for a pack that offers both in a fully integrated system,” said Jon Austen, Senior Director of Product Management at CamelBak.

“K.U.D.U. provides riders with an all-in-one pack that enables them to compete with greater peace of mind. Until K.U.D.U., no mountain bike hydration pack offered protection that could sustain more than one impact.”

To ensure a secure and stable fit for maximum protection, K.U.D.U. features dual sternum straps and a two-layered mesh, load-bearing waist belt complete with cargo pockets. K.U.D.U. is also equipped with a 3L Antidote Reservoir. K.U.D.U. also includes a tool roll, which is housed in a pouch within the pack. Available in January, K.U.D.U. comes in two sizes: K.U.D.U. 18 and Kudu 12 with 18L and 12L of total cargo capacity, respectively.
