If you’ve a bike shop based in Reading or Cambridge, it might be time to stock a few extra locks.
According to the British Transport Police (GetReading.co.uk) Cambridge Station has seen more bikes stolen from it than any other station in the UK over the past five years. 297 have been pilfered from the Cambridge train hub, with Reading closely following with 255 bicycles nicked in the same period.
Local initiatives such as Operation Wiggins from the BTP have yielded results, seeing the yearly number of bike thefts decrease.
