Cambrian Tyres has issued an update about its future, maintaining that it is still offering bicycle tyres to the UK trade.
Bicycle tyres, offered alongside Cambrian’s motorcycle tyre business, which they say supplies 12 brands to the UK motorcycle market, many being exclusive to the company.
Cambrian were the exclusive UK importer of Continental bicycle tyres between 1989 and 2025. Continental changed from an importer to a multi-wholesaler model in June this year and is now focusing on a direct-to-wholesaler supply.
“We believe that Continental have been looking at ways to have a more direct approach in key markets for some time, and whilst we might not agree on this approach, we respect their decision moving forward. In fact, this gives us the opportunity to grow our cycling portfolio with several approaches from other brands already received,” explains Cambrian Tyres Cycle Ltd Managing Director Neville Evans.
“We’ve contributed hugely to Continental’s success in the UK, through a variety of partners in an ever-changing marketplace over the past few decades. Successful distribution requires a high level of investment and understanding of market requirements, not least in stock holding. As Europe’s largest supplier of two-wheel tyre products, we have thrived by having the correct lines in the warehouse all year round, lots of them and at the best prices. We will continue to seek opportunities to grow our cycling portfolio,” added Mr Evans.
Cambrian Tyres launched its own B2B service in 2023 and serves over 800 accounts directly with Goodyear and Continental tyres & tubes, with over 1,000 SKUs listed from both brands.
