Cycling Sports Group UK was formed in October last year after Dorel Industries bought Hot Wheels from the Merry family with the aim of consolidating distribution of Mongoose, GT and Cannondale under one roof in the UK.
Winning ‘bike of the year’ in Cycling Plus (latest ABC: 40,000+) is a big deal for the new/old company.
Joint MD Russell Merry said: "We integrated the sales of Cannondale at the beginning of February and we are working very hard to get up to speed and offer dealers and riders the best possible levels of service.
"To have a big success like Bike of the Year in our first month of trading with the brand is a huge boost.
"Of course, it’s recognition for the hard work put in over many years by the Cannondale engineers and product managers around the globe.
"Now is a great time to start an association with Cannondale because the bikes are the best they have ever been, something Cycling Plus has clearly noticed."
The Six Carbon 105 scored 10/10 in the Cycling Plus "biggest ever bike test" and was placed on the cover of the bike test supplement in the April 2010 edition of the magazine. Future, publisher of Cycling Plus, has probably the biggest and best library of bike test reports in the world, supervised by veteran bike test guru, Steve Worland.
Mike Cotty, CSGUK’s marketing manager said: "I can’t help getting excited when we win a test. It’s the same buzz as when one of our sponsored athletes wins an event.
"I have worked with Cannondale a long time. It’s a brand that creates passion. The creation of the new CSG UK office means we will now be able to benefit commercially from the great press and race wins that our bikes and athletes will generate this year."
CSG UK now has a hat-trick of Bike of the Year awards with the Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra being the current Cycling Weekly Sportive Bike of the Year and the Charge Mixer being the Bicycle Buyer Bike of the Year.
