BWC winners to bag unique Brompton bikes

Bespoke Bromptons, kitted out with Brooks grips and saddles, are among the prizes on offer at this weekend’s Brompton World Championships.

The fastest male and female will win the custom Bromptons, which will also feature Kojak tyres and a number of other black components such as mudguards and headset. The bikes will be presented on Sunday August 21st as part of the Bike Blenheim Palace event.

Prizes from Schwalbe and Green Oil will be presented to winners of other World Championship categories. The winner of the Best Dressed rider category will be among the first to own one of the new Brompton Oratory Jackets.

Vic Lee, a designed from Clerkenwell, East London, helped create the unique Brompton’s for the winners. He said: “It has been great to collaborate with Brompton on this project. Over the past few years I have been working on this style of scene, featuring different areas that I know well in the capital. Brompton make the ultimate London bike so I was fully up for the challenge of illustrating this on the bike itself.”

Brompton’s head of design Will Carleysmith added: “We had been working with Vic on creating a new flap design for one of the bags. Vic had been wondering how the style might look against a white main frame, so we gave him one to do some testing on. As soon as it came back, I knew we had to make a bike out of this; the extra detailing in the components just finishes it off. Whoever wins this will be sitting on a real one of a kind.”

The BWC will see 750 riders from 31 countries.
