Brompton World Champs 2009 now full

Registration for the Brompton World Championship is now full, with all 600 places snapped up by Brompton enthusiasts from around the world.

Katharine Horsman, event organiser, commented: “This year’s Brompton World Championship promises to be even better than last year’s; not only are we fully subscribed, we are also lucky enough to have Roberto Heras, two time Tour of Spain winner, back on the course!

“Last year Heras narrowly lost out to home-grown, non-professional talent Alistair Kay. I can confirm that Heras and Kay have both signed up for the 2009 event.

“The course itself is unchanged; however, due to the increased numbers of participants, 200 up on last year, we have introduced a self-streaming system based on competitors’ expected finish times. We believe this will ensure a safer and more fun environment for the vast variety of racers taking part.”

The fastest male and female will receive an S6L Brompton bicycle, while Brooks England are sponsoring the Team event in its entirety, providing their famous Barbican messenger bag as the first place prize for each member of the winning team.

Schwalbe will be rewarding the winners of the Junior and Veteran categories with its Schwalbe Cycling Essentials, including a tyre bag, a pair of premium Kojak tyres, as well as a variety of accompanying tyre-related products. Powertraveller are sponsoring the expanded Best Dressed category, the best dressed male and female will each receive a Movietraveller and Powergorilla.

The October 4th race begins at 12pm and visitors are invited for afternoon tea at the Brompton marquee. Further info can be obtained by contacting race organisor Katehrine Horsman at katharine@brompton.co.uk
