Brompton Bicycle has further marked its 50th anniversary with the launch of the Brompton 1975 Edition. A special model that pays tribute to five decades of innovation, excellence, and the people who make it possible.

With only 1,975 units available worldwide, the bike features unique design elements that celebrate the brazing team who, for 50 years, have handcrafted every single bike from its London factory.

Brazing is the method Brompton uses to create a strong and stable bond between the steel tubes that come together to make a Brompton frame. The frame is the heart of every bike, and, as Brompton highlights, “brazing produces a high-quality and super-durable result”.

Key details of the 1975 Edition include:

  • Thermal Fade lacquer frame – the Thermal Fade finish is inspired by the colours created during the crucially important frame brazing process.
  • Brompton Brazer’s Coin – each bike comes with a collectable Brompton Brazer’s Coin. There are 52 expert brazers in Brompton’s London Factory, handmaking every single Brompton. Each bike is marked by its maker, and each brass coin is embossed with one of the brazer’s initials.
  • 1975 Edition Bottle Holder – the perfect solution for access to hydration on the go. With a simple attachment to the handlebars and an adjustable bungee strap system that can accommodate different shapes of bottles, and even allows the rider to fold the bike with it still securely in place.
  • 1975 Edition Small Zip Case – with a 1.5L capacity that’s perfect for travelling light, a surprisingly roomy main compartment with a handy pocket and elasticated strap for keeping small items secure. A detachable shoulder strap provides a convenient off-bike
  • 1975 Edition saddle – blending heritage styling with cutting-edge performance. With a premium carbon base that’s light and agile. Strong Chromoly rails. A specially designed integrated carry handle. 23% lighter than the standard Brompton saddle.
  • Numbered Serial Plate  each bike features a laser-etched plate with its unique number and 50th anniversary branding.

“The Brompton journey began in a small West London workshop in 1975, and today, our bikes are loved in cities around the world,” said Will Butler-Adams OBE, CEO of Brompton. “This anniversary edition is a thank-you to our team — the makers, and dreamers who helped fold Brompton into something truly iconic.”

The launch will also kick off a series of special Brompton 50 worldwide community ride-outs over the next year, celebrating the culture and community that surrounds Brompton.

The Brompton 1975 Edition is available from 17th September online, in Brompton stores, and selected Brompton Accredited Retailers.
