Last night was successful for Brompton of London and Singletrack Magazine of Todmorden: both were winners in award presentations held in London and Birmingham respectively.
Brompton won the Innovation, Enterprise and Industry category in the British Inspiration Award 2012. The folding bike company was up against Rolls Royce, Jaguar Land Rover and Lush Cosmetics.
The awards ceremony, held last night at the Intercontinental Hotel, Park Lane, showcased the best of Britain’s creative industries. Twelve categories ranged from Film, to Fashion, to Science & Technology to Digital Media.
Brompton’s MD William Butler-Adams and marketing director Emerson Roberts received the award.
Roberts said:
“It was a great evening, attended by impressive people from all industries, but particularly special because of the calibre of the individuals and companies who made up the nominees across all categories. To emerge victorious from a category that also nominated businesses like Lush, Jaguar Land Rover and Rolls-Royce, was thrilling; even better was the reception from the assembled guests when our win was announced by Lawrence Dallaglio.”
Other winners on the night included architect Lord Foster, sculptor Anish Kapoor CBE and BBC Worldwide. Nominees included Sir Paul Smith, David Bowie and inventor of the web. Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
Also last night Singletrack Magazine won a Media Pioneer award as voted for by judges at the annual Specialist Media Show.
The winners of the 2012 Media Pioneer Awards were announced at the Specialist Media Show on 24 May at Thinktank Birmingham.
The Media Pioneer Awards were established by the Specialist Media Show in 2010 to recognise innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in niche consumer and b2b markets, across print, digital media, and events.
