Bikmo cycle insurance, underwritten by Hiscox insurance group, has teamed up with Brompton Bicycle to launch a new specialised policy.
The new insurance policy will offer a range of benefits to Brompton owners including the offer of a replacement Brompton whilst repairs or replacements are arranged.
New Brompton customers will also benefit from the inclusion of 12 days free cover with every new Brompton bike purchase, where eligible.
Rob Grisdale, head of partnerships at Bikmo, commented: “As Brompton owners, we recognised the substantially reduced risk of theft for a bike that can be folded and taken with you. We’ve been able to negotiate a better rate and pass savings onto Brompton owners; we’re helping them ride more, for less.”
Following an assessment of claim data, which found Brompton bikes to be at a lower risk of theft, Bikmo are offering eligible customers to 25 per cent off standard bike premiums.
Other notable features of the new policy include cover from theft and accidental damage, free taxi ride home if you break down (up to £150), £2 million public liability cover, and an excess-free replacement option.
Chief sales and marketing officer at Brompton Stephen Loftus said of the partnership: “We are pleased to be working with Bikmo, a specialist bike insurer, to offer a tailored solution to our Brompton owners including a replacement bike whilst repairs are taking place, complete cover that includes accessories and helmet and free 14-day cover for new customers. This should ensure our customers, who rely on their bike to get around the city, will never miss a ride.”
Following a two-month trial period at the Brompton Junction store in Covent Garden, the policy is now being rolled out in the UK.
