Voxwomen works with the broadcaster for a UK-first

British Eurosport broadcasts first women’s cycling lifestyle show

Last night saw what’s being described as the first time a dedicated women’s cycling lifestyle show was aired on TV.

The half hour programme was broadcast by British Eurosport with pro women’s online cycling channel Voxwomen. The programme included behind the scene racing footage and features.

Voxwomen supporters were crucial in making the programme happen, indicating there is a groundswell of support for such a broadvast – in response to requests for more women’s cycling to be shown on television, Voxwomen launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a pilot television programme. Fans responded in their masses with the campaign exceeding the target donations required to financially support the project.

Anthony McCrossan, UCI Women’s Commentator and Voxwomen founder, said: “Professional women’s cycling is an exciting spectator sport and for a long time now, the women’s peloton has deserved more media support. We’re delighted that Voxwomen and British Eurosport can finally provide them with a platform to help to further promote the sport.

“On behalf of the Voxwomen team I’d like to thank British Eurosport for their commitment to this show. In particular a huge thank you to all of those people that believe in women’s cycling, who have put their own money forwards to help fund our programme. I would also like to thank the teams, riders and events who are at the hub of this programme. We hope you all enjoy this first show and we’re sure that this will be just the start of further coverage of the women’s professional peloton.”

David Kerr, Managing Director of British Eurosport said: “British Eurosport is well established as the Home of Cycling and we are always looking to acquire more good quality content for our viewers. It’s great to see a show that focuses on women’s cycling and we are very happy to add it to our schedules.”

The Voxwomen team of Bryony, Kim, Laura and Lois, said: “We launched Voxwomen just five months ago, so now to see our work on the screens of British Eurosport in such a short space of time is incredible. We are all so excited to see all of the filming we’ve done come to life in our first Voxwomen Cycling Show. And this is just the start of things to come as we’re currently in the process of filming and editing our second show which will also be on your screens very soon.”
