Two staff from cycling organisation attempt gruelling 'commute', pitting e-bike against cyclocross rig

British Cycling and the e-bike commute challenge

British Cycling has pitted the up and coming electric bike against pedal power in what it calls the ‘Electric bike mega commute challenge’.

Thanks to a donation from EBCO, e-bike cycnic and British Cycling web manager Phil Ingham set a challenge, placing his trusty Kona Jake the Snake versus the electric bike on a 22-mile route through the urban sprawl of Greater Manchester and up over the moors of the Pennines, a route Ingham rides almost daily.

The electric bike apparently survived the challenge and had enough charge left over for the commute the following day.
