US brand Boyd Cycling has today launched two gravel wheelsets: the Reiver and the Jocassee SL. The Reiver is a carbon wheel designed for real-world riding, and for those keen on value from their wheels. The Jocassee SL is the brand’s top-end gravel wheelset, built with “no compromises,” as the brand says. The new wheels come just a month after Boyd Cycling added the Podium 36mm Carbon Disc SL to its road wheelset lineup.

Two paths. One philosophy
At the very top of the Boyd Cycling gravel lineup sits the Jocassee SL. This is the brand’s no-compromise gravel wheelset built with aerospace-grade carbon fiber and their flagship Grade 54 hubs. With claimed “lightning-fast engagement” and a refined carbon layup, the Jocassee SL tips the scales at 1,145g. However, the strength of the rim apparently rivals that of a mountain bike wheelset. Which, Boyd Cycling says, is a goal most brands struggle to approach, let alone beat, even at weights north of 1400 grams.
The Jocassee SL exists to prove what’s possible when wheel design, materials selection, and build spec have no limit. But that isn’t the only story Boyd Cycling wants to tell. They believe great gravel wheels shouldn’t be reserved for just those riders chasing the cutting edge of wheel design.Â
That’s where the Reiver comes in. The Reiver brings carbon gravel performance to a more accessible price point without losing the durability and ride quality that matter when gravel turns rough, according to Boyd Cycling. With a 26mm internal-width carbon rim, Grade 36 hubs with 10° of engagement, and a proven spoke and brass nipple build, the Reiver is designed for punishing terrain—not pristine race courses.
At just 1385 grams per set and priced at only $1,200, the Reiver delivers serious performance where it counts. From the uncompromising Jocassee SL to the value-driven Reiver, Boyd Cycling says it remains committed to building wheels for how people actually ride gravel.
