Bobbin Bicycles to create world's first stand-alone Globe Bikes flagship store

Bobbin partners with Specialized for new London store

The Bobbin Globe Store in Islington, London, will offer the Globe Bike range, Specialized’s utility bike brand. This is the first stand-alone Globe store in the world. The new store opens on Thursday and is located on the same block as the existing Bobbin Bicycles store.

A joint statement from Bobbin and Specialized said:

"Coming from opposite ends of the cycling spectrum, Victorian-inspired Bobbin and carbon-led Specialized have found a common interest in urban utility cycling. Through brainstorming sessions, staff from both camps have explored and defined a middle ground where tweed is too twee, vintage too heavy and hybrids too boring."

Globe bikes have hub gears, mudguards, covered chains and front porteur racks.

Bobbin Bicycles was started in 2007 to retail vintage-style bikes and quirky cycling accessories. In 2010 Bobbin was nominated for Bike Biz ‘Independent Bike Retailer of the Year Award’ and named one of the ‘Top 20 Best Shops in London’ by Mary Portas and Time Out.

There’s a teaser video of the new store on Vimeo. The existing store can be seen on this video:
