BioLogic’s Bike Mount for Android, launched at Taipei Cycle, is now available to the trade.
The weathproof case – a follow up to its iPhone edition – is for Android-based smartphones and mounts to bicycle handlebars or railings. The hard-shell case features a welded touch-sensitive membrane which protects the phone from the weather but allows full access to the touchscreen, enabling riders to use their smartphone for tracking speed, position and the like.
The case also includes a clear protected opening on the back for taking video or pictures and is sealed shut with a dual double-pivot lock system. Portrait and landscape modes can be used with the Mount, as it pivots 360°.
“Our Bike Mount for iPhone allowed people to use an iPhone on their bikes as a powerful cycling computer and we wanted to give this ability to Android users as well,” explained Biologic project manager Kevin Chan. “There are a lot of free and paid cycling apps for Android smartphones but no really good way to mount one to a bike. Our product not only securely attaches your phone to a bike, but also protects it against weather, sweat, grime, and shock.”
The Bike Mount for Android is compatible with a number of Android-based phones using the appropriate silicone liner, which protects against shock while still providing access to the power and volume buttons. There are four liners available currently, with more in the works dependent on demand, Biologic said. The following phones are compatible: Samsung Galaxy SII HTC Desire HD / HTC EVO 4G / HTC Inspire 4G Samsung Galaxy S / LG Optimus 2X HTC Sensation
The Mount is distributed to the UK trade via Paligap (www.paligap.cc), which has just received stock. Biologic’s Bike Mount for Android has a SRP of £40, while the individual Bike Mount for Android Liners are priced at £9 SRP.
