Bikmo launches independent retailer friendly insurance firm

Bikmo has launched a new cycle insurance product with partners Hiscox and Butterworth Spengler.

Citing a need for an insurance policy that is straight forward, simple to buy, great value and speaks to cyclists in a language they understand, the Bikmo Plus website is now live here.

Bikmo founder, David George, said: "Using an innovative approach to risk from a thorough understanding of cycle enthusiasts’ behaviour has enabled us to achieve multi-bike savings of up to 50 per cent. This, combined with a simple three-step buying process and 0% interest-free Netflix style monthly payments makes Bikmo Plus the go-to insurance provider for cycle enthusiasts."

Driving support of the UK cycle industry, Bikmo Plus customers can choose to have £0 excess, access the expertise of the Bikmo team and have their bike replaced from a local independent retailer.

Each customer is provided with a ‘Cloud’ account that, in addition to accessing policy documents online, allows them to upload bicycle images, receipts and notes for hassle free claims. Other such benefits include:

  • Up to 50% multi-bike discount
  • Excess free on bike claims above £1,000 processed through Bikmo
  • £250 or 10% cover for accessories, clothing and bike boxes
  • Competition cover from enduro to sportives
  • 365 day worldwide travel cover
  • A free Bikmo DNA + forensic coding system worth £30

Bikmo Plus is currently looking to grow its retailer and partnership network and those who are interested should get in touch via dave@bikmo.com

George concludes: “Our vision is to make cycle insurance simple and good value. Take out confusing options and unnecessary risk (we know bike nuts like us look after their bikes), include everything a cyclist need to protect them, their bikes and equipment and make it as easy as Netflix to buy. I’m really pleased with the product we created with our partners and the feedback has been superb.”
