Many of you will be familiar with the brand, especially as they’ve been in the cycling industry since 2007. What you might not know is that Magicshine has been in the lighting game since 1999. But how did they end up in the UK? It just so happens that self-proclaimed “bike geek” Nick Keat reached out to Magicshine one winter in the hope he could get some lights, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I’ve actually got quite a cool story behind how Magicshine came to the UK. I never really classed myself as a businessman — I’m just a bike nerd whose passion for anything on two wheels led me to the opportunity to work directly with Magicshine in China.

That same passion is still what drives me today, and I’m always looking at ways to keep building Magicshine in the UK through projects that reflect my love for the sport. Right now we’ve got some really exciting things happening — from launching a Magicshine race team, to supporting races (which I can never resist competing in myself), and even a secret project involving a big wind tunnel and a lot of data.

Here, in a preview of more to come in the next issue of the magazine, we chat to Nick via video. Here he tells more of the brand story in his own words…

In the October issue, we’ll go into more detail about what Magicshine UK offers its UK retailers as the brand looks to expand its retailer network in the UK. Recently, Magicshine has expanded into accessories, including e-pumps, glasses and more, something Nick mentions in this interview.
