Cycle parking firm provides its contribution to the Summer of Cycling

Bike Dock opens free bike park during London 2012 Olympics

Bike Dock Solutions has opened a free-to-use secure cycle park in Hackney during the Olympic Games.

Up to 60 bicycles fit into the park, which is open 24 hours a day and located on Rivington Street, Shoreditch, Hackney – close to Shoreditch High Street station.

The park features Bike Dock Solutions’ Semi-Vertical Racks which allow users to lock the rear wheel and/or frame using a D-Lock or chain. The facility also features the company’s Toastracks, ideal for multiple cycle parking.

“2012 could prove to be the greatest year that British cycling has had, with incredible success in the Tour de France and great support for Team GB in the Olympics," enthused Bike Dock Solutions director James Nash.

"More people are getting on bicycles, and the Bike Dock Solutions bike park is our contribution to the ‘Summer of Cycling’.

“Some commuters are being advised to avoid public transport during the games – we’re hoping that our bike park will provide people with an incentive to leave their Oyster Cards at home and instead cycle to work."

The London Cycling Campaign (LCC) has backed the move: Campaigns officer Charlie Lloyd said: “Hopping on a bike is the best way to avoid the transport chaos expected over the next few weeks. It’s a great time to discover how easy it is cycling to work or for a night out.

“Bike Dock Solutions free parking in Shoreditch is a brilliant boost to help more people enjoy riding a bike. It would be great if others could sponsor more free parking.”

Bike Dock Solutions is an official supplier to the TfL Cycle Superhighways scheme.
