Bike Blenheim Palace to become two day event

Bike Blenheim Palace, host to the Brompton World Championships, is to run across two days in 2012 for the first time, with dates set as August 18th and 19th.

The World Heritage site holds what is pitched as an annual festival of cycling, with fresh events added for next year’s crowds, including a 40km off-road sportive, cyclocross rides and a 1km sprint event.

Young people are to benefit from the expansion too, with a new ‘Balance Bike Championship for under fives and a mountain bike test track for under 12s. Plans are also in the pipeline to build a test track for disabled riders to encourage para-cyclists to take part in events.

Camping is to be introduced for the first time, including catering for competitors and exhibitors who wish to stay the duration of the event.

For more about the event and opportunities, contact Antony Auty on 07920 008824, or email aa@bikesoup.co.uk.
