Belfast hire bikes “ruined by vandalism”

Nine of Belfast’s hire bikes have been “ruined by vandalism” at Ormeau Park bike docking station.

Belfast Bikes is sponsored by Just Eat and supported by Belfast City Council.

On 30th November it tweeted: “So tonight has been a disaster for Belfast Bikes.

“Nine bikes ruined by vandalism and three bikes stolen/ missing, all from just one station, Ormeau Park.

“Add that to over a dozen other acts of vandalism in only the last few days across our portfolio of stations. Unsustainable!”

Chair of Ravenhill Residents Gary McKeown tweeted: “Appalled by the mindless attack on the Ormeau Park Belfast Bikes docking station last night.

“I used it myself yesterday evening. Ravenhill Residents’ Association is a big supporter of the scheme.

“I hope the culprits are caught.”
