French brand BASTILLE, launched in 2023 by the inventor of the YOYO stroller, has announced the launch of the new BASTILLE E, “a flawless folding system like no other bike before.”

The brand says the new bike has been developed with three patents, following ten years of R&D. According to BASTILLE, they have “reinvented the folding mechanism, without compromising on performance or wheel size. In just six seconds, a Bastille bike slips seamlessly into a train, a taxi, an elevator, or under a desk.”

Already present in nine UK stores, the 15-person team from Paris say they’ve taken the next step with their official expansion to the UK.

This is the electric version I had dreamed of for Bastille: ultra-simple, without any unnecessary tech. All the joy of an ingenious, beautiful, and high-performing e-bike — with the ever-present magic of Bastille folding.” – Gilles Henry, co-founder and inventor.

The brand says that with its all-in-one hub (motor, battery, and controller all in the rear wheel), the fully equipped Bastille E weighs just 16.7 kg.

Bastille says the app’ gives you only what you need: battery level, assistance mode, or distance travelled. “No unnecessary electronics, no screen, no gimmicks — only high-quality standard components. The Bastille E is easy to maintain and quick to repair, just like a classic bike.”
