Argos will join the Bicycle Association’s cycling Market Data Service.
Simon Irons, associate director at the BA, said: “We are delighted to welcome Argos into the service which will particularly bolster our mainstream adults and kids bikes reporting and is another significant step on the road to achieving our target of 70% market coverage by the end of the first year of launch.”
The BA is already reporting early insights from the market data service to those already signed up and with the addition of Argos is now planning for the online portal launch in Q1 2020, once all data is loaded.
Its second monthly Market Data Bulletin revealed a relatively tough market overall during August with sales value down 6%, and volumes down 10%. This indicates that average prices are rising and the impact of e-bikes on this metric was outlined within the report.
Dean Turley, market and competitor insight manager at Argos, added: “We are delighted to be working with the Bicycle Association, to more accurately monitor and successfully operate within the UK cycling market.”
