Colorado-based Argo Cargo has introduced the Argo Fy – representing a new wave in the cycling industry with flat-pack cargo bike conversion kit, available to ship to customers worldwide.
Argo Fy has been designed and engineered to turn the bike which cyclists already own into a cargo bike, and back again.
The system transforms any standard bicycle into a front-loading cargo bike – a transformation the company terms a “leader” (think front trailer…) – allowing customers to “cargo-fy” their existing bicycle rather than purchasing an entirely new one.
The move represents part of a new wave in the cycling industry that opens up previously specialist products through direct-to-consumer sales, flat-pack shipping, and elimination of proprietary components – significantly increasing the accessibility and affordability of cargo bikes as modern – car alternative – transport solutions.
In keeping with the accessibility aspect, the Argo Fy retails for $1399 / UK: £1100 (As of August 2025) and ships flat-pack directly to customers worldwide.
“We’re part of a new wave in cycling that’s taking inspiration from companies like Rad Power Bikes, who democratized e-bikes by shipping direct and making them accessible to everyday families,” said Scott Taylor, founder of Argo Cargo Bikes.
Taylor continues: “We saw what they accomplished for electric bikes and asked: why can’t cargo bikes work the same way? While there are merits to trailers that pull behind you, we want to differentiate ‘front loaders’ from what we are calling ‘leaders’. Leaders give you the visibility, control, and connection with your cargo of a front-loading cargo bike, with the modularity of a trailer.”

Public launch
The Argo Fy has already proven market demand through its community-focused approach. Taylor quietly introduced the system to his newsletter subscribers and previous customers, selling hundreds of units across the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and mainland Europe before this public announcement and sale.
Improved Compatibility and Serviceability
The Argo Fy uses standard components for easy maintenance and repair. The system uses metric bolts available at any hardware store, standard bearings, and components serviceable at local bike shops, hardware stores or auto shops – representing a shift away from proprietary parts that lock customers into specialist servicing.
“Cargo bikes get abused by their owners in the best possible way – rain, salt, daily family adventures,” Taylor explained. “When something needs repairing, people shouldn’t have to wait weeks for proprietary parts or pay premium prices. You should be able to walk into your neighbourhood shop and get back on the road.”
Major Technical Improvements
The Argo Fy features comprehensive upgrades based on user feedback from Argo 1.0:
-
6061 Aluminium Frame: Enhanced durability against weather and salt while improving control through increased stiffness
-
Phenolic Plywood Box: Waterproof, paint-free material that’s stronger and more sustainable
-
Hydraulic Brake System: Compatible with electric bike systems for enhanced stopping power
-
Better Fork Compatibility: Now works with 9mm, 12mm, and 15mm forks with 2-bolt, under-1-minute adjustment, now works with Carbon forks too, opening up accessibility to the higher-end cycling community
-
Motorcycle-Style Kickstand: All-steel center stand with external spring for superior stability
-
Simplified Assembly: Pre-assembled components and improved packaging reduce setup time dramatically
Making Cargo Bikes Normal
Argo’s mission extends beyond product sales to cultural change. The company aims to normalise cargo bikes in the way that balance bikes have become mainstream for children.
