Apidura has introduced a refresh of its Packable Backpack and Packable Musette, first launched in 2020, with the renewed designs said to “honour the brand’s Constant Forward Progress approach to design”.

The brand’s Packable range was created to solve problems that occur on longer rides, offering ultralight solutions for storage and visibility, designed with fit, comfort and minimal pack size.

5 years on from the original launch, the Packable Backpack and Packable Musette have been treated to a host of updates, coming from deep experience gained through products used in harsh and challenging ultra environments, working with athletes and customers alike.

Product evolution in focus

  • Made from a water-resistant Cordura ripstop material with a tighter weave for durability and strength
  • Daisy chain and cord hook sternum straps on both products for a lighter, lower profile and a better on-body fit
  • Reflective side panels on the Packable Backpack
  • Reflective thread woven into the webbing straps on both Packable Backpack and Musette
  • Can be packed away in their own pockets and strapped to the frame
  • Material choice now means Apidura’s supply chain is completely PFA-free
  • Weight & capacity: 110g, 13L (Packable Backpack) 58g, 7L (Packable Musette)

Speaking at the launch of the redesigned backpack and musette, the brand states: “Originally launched in 2020, we’ve spent the last 5 years watching the Packable Backpack and Packable Musette travel the world on hundreds of different setups and race some of the world’s most iconic ultra-distance events.

“What becomes clear when you enter the world of unsupported, ultra-distance cycling are the unique challenges you meet, compared to other sports and disciplines even within cycling. On long days out, riding from dawn ‘til dusk and often late into the night with no support crew, riders will need to think about supplies and refuelling for the miles ahead.

“The Packable Backpack and Packable Musette directly address these specific needs of the ultra-distance cyclist – the late-night gas station raids and carrying fuel and food while maintaining a lightweight and fuss-free setup. For so long, we saw riders coming up with their own solutions, forced to use products that were sub-optimum in situations where something purpose-built would have made a significant difference.”

Available from the 15th of December, the Packable Backpack retails for £46, whilst the Packable Musette is offered at £34.
