Andrew Butler passes away at 54

As many in the trade will already know the sad news that bicycle industry veteran Andrew Butler died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Bristol on Tuesday May 6th 2014, at the age of 54.

Distributor Saddleback has passed us this note:

"Andrew played a key part in the UK bicycle industry for more than 30 years, starting his career in a Bristol bike shop before moving on to become a long serving senior member of the Caratti Sport team and in turn GT / Schwinn.

"More recently he was one of the founding partners of Paligap and the last few years has been caring for a number of brands as an independent sales agent. There is no disputing that Andrew was one of the nicest guys in the industry, well respected and liked by all up and down the country and he will be sorely missed.

"Andrew is survived by his wife Rebecca and their two children Isaac and Gabrielle.

"Rebecca has extended an invitation to all in the industry who knew him to attend his funeral service, which will be held at Westerleigh Crematorium on Wednesday 28th May 2014 at 10:30am, then afterwards at The Kendleshire Golf Club. For those that would like to attend please contact and confirm with Andy Wigmore of Saddleback: andy@saddleback.co.uk so that he can coordinate the numbers.

Westerleigh Crematorium, Westerleigh Road, Westerleigh, Bristol BS37 8QP
