Online giant refutes reports that it will head into physical retail

Amazon denies High Street rumours

Rumours broke over the weekend that Amazon – one of the largest online retailers in the world – was planning to open shops on the UK High Street.

But Amazon has moved to quash the rumours and said it has: “no plans to open physical stores anywhere in the world”, as reported in Marketing Week.

Over the years the retailer has increased its range far beyond CDs and DVDs – including a sizeable range of bicycles. Amazon’s rumoured move onto the High Street would allow the retailer to offer a ‘click and collect’ service on larger items.
