Adidas has unveiled a new four-model Freerider mountain bike footwear range, developed with input from athletes including Vali Höll, Danny MacAskill and Greg Minnaar.
Leading the line-up are the Freerider Pro BOA and Freerider Pro BOA Clipless. The clipless model debuted at the Whistler World Cup with riders from the Norco adidas Race Division and is scheduled to go on sale in March 2027.
The new shoes combine Freerider’s Stealth-rubber grip, fit and off-bike styling with the clip-in performance associated with the Five Ten Hellcat. They are also the first models to carry both the adidas 3-Stripes and Five Ten logos.
The flat-pedal Freerider Pro BOA uses Stealth rubber throughout and was developed with riders including Brendan Fairclough, Vero Sandler and Danny MacAskill. The Freerider Pro BOA Clipless was created with the Norco adidas Race Division and athletes including Minnaar, Höll and Dakotah Norton.

The clipless version uses the harder-wearing Stealth Marathon compound and gains a redesigned cleat slot with 5mm of additional rearward adjustment. Across the Pro models, adidas has specified a five-layer toe box with Poron impact protection, asymmetric construction and an integrated debris shield.
The Freerider Pro BOA uses a single Li2 BOA dial, while the clipless model has a dual-dial system. Both also feature an asymmetric PerformFit Wrap intended to provide a more precise fit.
Luke Hontz, senior product manager for bike at adidas, said the company had “reimagined what Freerider could be” rather than making incremental updates. He added that the range, including the first clipless Freerider, was designed to give riders at every skill level a shoe tailored to how and where they ride.
The range starts at €120/$120. The Freerider Pro BOA is priced at €180/$180 and the Freerider Pro BOA Clipless at €250/$250. All four models will be available from March 2027 through adidas.co.uk/cycling and the adidas app, in UK sizes 3–9 for women and 5–14 for men.
